Marion’s Kitchen Tamarind Vinaigrette recipes

Marion Grasby brings her unique knack for combining flavours with this beautifully balanced dressing, creating super-clever (and super-speedy) salads that work well as a side, or even as the main event on a summer weekday.

What is Tamarind?

Tamarind is a pod-like fruit that is native to Africa and is found readily across the tropical regions of South East Asia. The mature pods contain thE pulpy, dark coloured flesh of the fruit that adds that intense sour flavour to loads of Asian dishes.

What is vinaigrette made of?

Typically a vinaigrette is a mixture of three parts oil and one part vinegar, herbs, spices and salt and pepper are also often added. In the case of this tamarind vinaigrette, tamarind is the extra ingredient that gives this dressing its delicious and unique flavour.

What should I use tamarind vinaigrette for?

Tamarind vinaigrette is the perfect addition to all your spring and summer salads. It also works particularly well with prawns thanks to the tamarind flavour. Some of our favourite recipes using this tamarind vinaigrette include, Chilli Lime Prawns with Tangy Mango Salsa, a Pumpkin and Feta Salad with Thai-style Tamarind Vinaigrette, or even a Thai-style Tamarind Beef Noodle Salad.
